Item C2: 10 WESTERN RED CEDAR 2009 CROP SEEDLINGS

Details

This package contains 10 western red cedar seedlings from our 2009 crop that are 12 to 18 inches tall. The western red cedar (Thuja plicata ) is native to coastal Northern California northward to Alaska and west to Montana. This species is hardy in zones A3; 1-9 and 14-24. Red cedars can exceed 200 feet in height and 10 feet in diameter. The trunk is straight and tapered with bark of reddish brown. The straight grain of the wood makes this tree valuable for use in roofing shingles. The lightweight nature of the wood enabled the Native Americans of the northwest to use the western red cedar for seafaring canoes. These seedlings were container grown from seed. They are not transplants from the wild. The picture was taken on 7/7/11.
