This package contains 3 red fir (abies magnifica) seedlings from our 2010 crop. These seedlings are 4 to 6 inches tall. The red fir is native to the mountains of southern Oregon and parts of California’s Sierra Nevada and Coast Ranges. This species is aptly named because it is the most magnificent of all the true firs. This is the “silver tip” fir of the California cut Christmas tree trade. It soars in height to 230 feet in the wild with trunk diameters of up to 10 feet, with symmetrical, horizontal, rather short branches. It prefers deep, rich soil. This tree is hardy in zones 2-7.
