Thanks to Josep Carreter for sending us this wintertime image of giant sequoias in Santa Fe, Catalonia. Josep said “This pic was taken last January of the 120 year old sequoias located in Santa Fe, Catalonia (same trees shown in one of your other Spain entries). The place is some 50km north of Barcelona, in the middle of a beech forest, 1300 m above sea level, in the mountain massif called El Montseny".

Catalonia, Spain - This would be the catalan equivalent to The Congress found in Sequoia National Park, but with more modest dimensions. As you see, these are 3 Sequoiadendrum Giganteum aged 120 years. The one in the middle is around 2.55 m in diameter

The giant sequoia near Pyrenees back in 2003 from a garden center before planting by Xavi. The garden center gave it to him since it was in such sorry shape. The following image is from 2010 after 7 years of care in Catalonia area.

This is the giant sequoia planted by Xavi located in the North-East of Catalonia, at an elevation of 900m very close to the Pyrenees range. The tree is now growing very healthy in his care, Thank you Xavi.

Jordi of Barcelona-Catalunya's three year old giant sequoia. We finally planted our 3-year-old sequoias on a nice mountain meadow at 1600 metres high, at the heart of the catalan Pirineus ridge. It's a snowy place, so I think they will have very nice times in winter seasons, protected as they are from snowslides but taking advantage of the snow itself. Thank you Jordi
