I raised several Giant Sequoia saplings from seeds that I bought in 1999. My grandfather-in-law (Harold Alsup) took one of the saplings and cared for it for a couple years before planting it in his backyard in north-central Kentucky (Trimble County). It was in a large pot on a cart and he would move it in and out of his garage when there was extreme weather. He planted it in his backyard in Milton, Kentucky in 2001. He cared for it for a couple more years until his death. I have not checked on it since then. Here are some photos that were taken in July 2003. You can see it was 37″ tall with a 2″ trunk diameter. Thanks to Jon Mansfield for this picture and information about this giant sequoia tree.
