New Jersey giant sequoia

New Jersey Joe Frankie

Thanks to Joe Frankie of Middletown, New Jersery for sending us a picture of his Giant Sequoia redwood. He said, “I estimate it is about 45 years. I get so many comments on this tree and just love the looks and shape. It is so full and filled out when I compare it with other pictures of redwoods in NJ. I am estimating it is about 65′ feet tall with a diameter of 16″ when measured 2′ up from the ground. It shed’s a tremendous amount of growth every fall, however, it always comes back strong every summer”.

This giant sequoia tree is in Locust. It is believed to be the largest in NJ at 65 feet. It’s main trunk was pruned after lightening hit it leaving the side branches to flourish with health in this landscape. South of New York City and east of Princeton about a mile from the coast.
